Account age and local use
Personal and organization-managed PearaByte accounts require age 13 or older, or a higher applicable product or regional minimum. Personal guardian enrollment and school-managed under-13 accounts are unavailable at initial launch. School approval, a purchase or platform app approval cannot override this restriction.
Neural Notes and PearStead allow basic local use without an account where platform rules permit. Local content and mandatory platform verification or parental-permission requirements still apply. Do not create an adult account for a child or upload a child's information through another account to bypass the restriction.
The initial school offering focuses on eligible high school and college students. School/work identities remain separate from personal identities and use age bands rather than exact DOB by default. School-created under-13 profiles and school-hosted sync are future options, not current services.
An entered birth date is self-declared; a platform age range can also be declared or parent-provided. School SSO, an email domain or a payment does not establish verified age or educational authority. School use requires current organization terms, privacy acknowledgment, data-processing terms and education-use requirements.
Contact support@pearabyte.com about a child's information, review, deletion or stopping further collection. No paid plan or account is required. We verify identity or authority before disclosing another person's information. Do not send identity documents or unnecessary sensitive child information with your initial request.

Availability
Our launch offering is limited to residents of the United States. Please do not create an account or make a new purchase if you reside outside the United States. Existing customers can still contact support about their data, account or billing. This launch scope does not limit rights you have under applicable law.
Release availability differs by platform and is shown on the download and store pages. Features, compatibility and limits may change. Keep independent copies of important work; synchronization is not a substitute for a backup system.
Free and Pro features
Free includes unlimited local Standard Neurons and nodes, plus one Secure Neuron. Pro includes unlimited Secure Neurons, cloud sync and sharing. Unlimited counts remain subject to device capacity and technical payload, attachment and service limits. Existing local Neurons remain accessible if Pro expires; additional Secure creation uses your current plan. Valid cached Pro access supports local paid features during the limited offline entitlement grace. Cloud operations require an eligible online account and current permissions.
Storage and attachments
The current Pro cloud allowance is up to 1 GiB per owning account across notes and attachments, including Secure storage. It is an enforced account limit, not dedicated or reserved server space. Shared content counts toward its owner's allowance. Attachments are limited to 5 MiB per file, eight attachments and 40 MiB of attachments per node. Device capacity and separate technical payload limits also apply.
Uploads or cloud writes can be refused when an account limit or service-capacity limit is reached. Keep independent exports of important work. Synchronization and operational recovery backups do not provide a user-accessible version-history service or guarantee recovery of an earlier edit.
Subscriptions and purchases
Optional Pro subscriptions renew monthly until cancelled. The purchase screen and payment provider show the applicable price, currency, taxes and renewal terms before confirmation. Animation packs are separate one-time purchases unless included with an offer shown at checkout. When offered to an eligible account, the Pro trial lasts seven days, then renews at the monthly price shown before confirmation unless cancelled before the trial ends. Trial access includes Pro's sync, sharing and Secure features. The included permanent theme unlocks after the first successful payment; once claimed, it remains owned after Pro ends. A trial is offered once per eligible PearaByte account, subject to the payment provider's eligibility rules. Manage website and desktop subscriptions through Manage / cancel subscription; manage Google Play or Apple subscriptions through the store where you subscribed. Uninstalling or signing out does not cancel billing. For a refund or billing problem, use the purchase provider's support process or contact PearaByte support. Applicable statutory cancellation and refund rights are not excluded.
The trial is optional and only available where the purchase screen offers it. The provider's confirmation identifies the first charge and recurring amount; cancel through that provider before the trial ends to avoid the first recurring charge. Website and direct-desktop purchases use Stripe's payment flow, while Android purchases made through Google Play use Play billing. A purchase-verification error does not itself confirm whether the provider charged you; check your provider receipt or subscription history before attempting another purchase.
Organization Pro is a separate subscription at USD $2.99 per purchased seat per month, plus applicable tax shown at checkout. Authorized organization administrators assign available paid seats to managed accounts. Assigned eligible seats provide Pro capabilities; an organization role or membership alone does not. The personal Pro trial does not apply to organization seats. See the organization terms for capacity, billing and cancellation rules.
Your account
Cloud features and purchasing/restoring account-bound Pro or packs require an eligible 13+ PearaByte account. Sending, opening and receiving shared Neurons require active Pro for both sender and recipient. Free recipients must purchase Pro before accepting an invitation. Basic Free local use is available without one. Purchases do not replace required age eligibility, current documents or parent/school authorization.
Provide accurate account information and protect your sign-in credentials, devices, and Secure recovery material. Use only accounts and content you are authorized to access.
Secure recovery and independent copies
The encrypted Secure account backup protects recovery keys used to regain access; it is not an independent copy of every note or attachment. Emergency codes are displayed once when generated, and each unused code can enroll a device once through the online service. Protect the Secure passphrase and saved codes separately from your account password. If every enrolled device, the Secure passphrase and all usable emergency codes are lost, Secure data may be permanently unrecoverable. Support cannot decrypt Secure notes or recreate their keys. Key recovery does not guarantee restoration of deleted or overwritten work, and shared Secure Neurons remain controlled by their owner.
Settings → Advanced → Export data saves Standard notes and workspace data as JSON without requiring Pro. Secure Neurons are excluded. Stored attachment files are referenced rather than bundled into that JSON; save those files separately from each note's Attachments section. This export is not a complete portable backup of notes and files, and it does not include every account or billing record. Contact support for server-held account-data requests.
Your work and shared work
You retain your rights in content you create. By choosing cloud sync or sharing, you permit PearaByte and the necessary service providers to store, transmit, and process that content to operate those features. Share only material you have permission to share. A Neuron owner controls its membership and may remove access or delete the Neuron.
Acceptable use
Do not use the service to distribute unlawful content, infringe others’ rights, harass people, send unsolicited invitations, distribute malware, or attempt unauthorized access. Do not bypass authentication, quotas, encryption controls, or other protections, or interfere with service operation.
Files are stored as data; accepting a file type is not a guarantee that the file is safe to open. Only save and open files you trust.
Access and deletion
We may restrict access where reasonably necessary to address misuse, legal obligations, or security incidents. You may stop using the service, delete Neural Notes cloud data while keeping your PearaByte account and purchases, or request full PearaByte account deletion. Product-data deletion removes Neural Notes-owned cloud data and shared access; full account deletion also removes the shared identity. Neither action can erase copies already held by other people. The separate signed-out workspace remains under your control.
Privacy and support
The shared PearaByte account terms also apply to account services. The privacy notice explains the service’s data handling. For account, content, or legal concerns, contact support@pearabyte.com. These terms do not exclude rights or protections that applicable law does not allow to be excluded.
Changes
We may update these terms as the service develops. We will identify material changes here or communicate them through an appropriate account channel.
Regional requirements and privacy choices
Account and cloud availability, age requirements, required residence information and parent or school authority depend on the product and applicable country/state rules. An available country selector is not an announcement that account services or purchases have launched there. Our stated launch offering remains in effect until we announce an additional region.
Terms acceptance establishes the applicable service agreement. A privacy acknowledgment confirms that the notice was presented; it is not blanket consent for optional processing or permission to collect a child's data. Where processing requires a separate consent, that choice must concern the stated purpose and can be withdrawn. Purchasing Pro, store parental permission or school sign-in does not provide that separate authority.
You can contact support@pearabyte.com about applicable access, correction, deletion, objection, restriction, portability or consent-withdrawal rights and help with a privacy complaint. This includes Mexico's applicable access, rectification, cancellation and opposition (ARCO) rights. Rights and response requirements depend on the applicable law. We verify identity or authority before disclosing another person's information; privacy help does not require Pro, a new purchase or acceptance of revised terms.
Organization authority applies only to its separate managed identity and approved service. School authority must cover the educational purpose and applicable jurisdiction; it does not authorize unrelated commercial use or access to a separate personal account. Published notices do not themselves establish a school's authority, an international transfer arrangement or age verification.
